Bowel Scope Screening
I've had an NHS invite drop on my door mat. Anyone been through this?

As a sweetener they tell me that I can look at a screen and see the inside of my bowel as it happens. Why would anyone want to do that?

You can't lose anything-my brother-in-law suffered with diverticulitis and he had a 'scan'.Good job he did 'cos they discovered colon cancer at a very early stage...he's undergoing chemo now but he was very lucky

ALFS:- go for it mate. I was diagnosed a couple of months ago with bowel and prostate cancer. Big fuckers as well!! Am on chemo at the moment.

If i had done the screening they may have picked it up earlier so I could start the chemo and biopsy and colostomy's sooner.

You have nothing to lose but time mate!

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
oh and you don't HAVE to look at the insides of your arse and guts on the monitor! Turn away, deep breaths and no one will know you have had a mild homosexual experience with a stranger

I can say quite definitively that I don't want to see inside your bowel.

Had it twice now. Not pleasant but also not painfull. The potential benefits far out weigh the inconvenience. Go for it.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
Just had it done a couple of months ago, it did hurt because of the air they pump up there, it's like having extreme gas you can't get rid of by farting, but other than that, it's fairly straight forward

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
It's nothing loads of posters on here haven't seen already, what with having their heads so far up their arses half the time.

Other than that, good luck to you lot who were so recently diagnosed, and this thread has got me wondering if I can get a similar check up here without taking a 2nd mortgage.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
All jokes aside; I can't see any reason why you wouldn't go and get this done. Bit of time out your day, that's all.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
I had a colonoscopy done earlier this year, is this the same procedure? Had it done twice as first time the laxatives didn't work properly, also a bit uncomfortable, so and time asked for more sedation and don't remember a thing.
If same thing you need to follow a strict low fibre diet for 4 days prior and then 24 hours before only clear fluids and then the laxatives 12 hours prior.
Had horrible pain after the first one due to the air they pump in, no farts after just agonising pain for a few hours where I was lying on the the floor thinking something had gone wrong.
Second time was fine though, got the all clear.

Go for it Alf....worth doing, never had anything like this done before and never bothered, until it was to late and was diagnosed with bowel, prostrate and tumour attatched to bladder. I,d urge anyone to take this up and others have said its a few hours out of your day so. .....

Oh and if anyone is interested, got my latest scan results yesterday...still all clear and my bloods etc are perfect aswell...even for an old cunt like me.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
Had a camera up my arse about 10 years ago when I'd torn my stomach muscle in two.

At least that's what I thought the letter was for as when I turned up it was for haemorrhoids that I told them had gone 15 months before when I'd actually asked for a fucking appointment.

Still had it done and I asked if I could watch.

Bit embarrassing, as 3 youngish women doing it and I'd been drinking for 12 hours the day before and had then had a madras before playing football in the morning.

Basically the camera had to nudge through about a ton of sloppy shit that was about to come out.

You have to constantly fart as well, as the camera has air blowing out of it to help get round the bends so after 9 mins, I was bloated with air.

Good times.

Was in Medway Hospital last week having it done.

Movi-Prep is remarkable stuff.

Had it done a few months back and got the all clear. A lot of farting afterwards.
Anyone who gets a letter for this and does not get it done is a cunt.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
I had it done about a year ago. The prep stuff is pretty special.
If you could get hold of some of that you'd lose about 4 stone very quickly.

I found the procedure painless although slightly strange. Then again a random bloke feeding a 12 foot pipe up your bullet would be...

12 FOOT!

Fuck that! I've decided to take my chances with arse cancer than end up with an insertions kink.

Re: Bowel Scope Screening
I had it done in my 20's before I was diagnosed with IBS. The Picolax the day before was probably worse than the procedure itself!!!

What age do they start screening these days as it's never been suggested to me since by my GP?

13 Brentford Rd 3:20 Thu Oct 5
Re: Bowel Scope Screening
Picolax did'nt work properly on me and they had to abort the probe halfway round which pissed me off greatly as it wasted days and then I had to go back. 2nd time I had Movi Prep which worked.

Some great advise and of course the usual funny stuff!
Go for it Alfs. If you have a partner who has given birth to your kids, this is nothing compared to that!***
